Pokemon Benayla Version 2 Chapter Three

The proverbial show must go on, so here we go.



Title: BATTLE AT THE PARK!



Having slept through the night, April and Cyndaquil awaken as the sun rises.



Cyndaquil: Good Morning April. Looks like the sun's not up yet.

April: Good, so let's take this chance to catch another Pokemon before then.

Cyndaquil: Good idea.

(They take off)

Cyndaquil: So how long until we reach Chemong Park?

April: We should be there by sunrise. According to my Phone it's straight ahead.

Cyndaquil: Your Phone?

April: It's a Windows Phone.

Cyndaquil: Your Phone has a window??

April: Never mind Cyndaquil. Let's just get there.

Cyndaquil: Yeah.

(They notice a Pokemon move through the shadows of the wilderness)

April: Found something.

April's Pokedex: Gastly, The Gas Pokemon. It envelopes its prey with its poisonous gas like body.

April: That's it?

Cyndaquil: Here we go!

Gastly: ?!

(Cyndaquil's Tackle goes right through Gastly)

April: Smokescreen!

(Cyndaquil directly hits Gastly with Smokescreen, which disappears along with Gastly as the sun rises)

April: Damn it.

Cyndaquil: The sun's up, let's go.

April: Yeah.

(They reach Chemong Park)

April: So this is it.

Cyndaquil: Looks like a really nice place, especially with the sunrise over it.

April: Now then....

(She unleashes Hoppip)

April: Let's sit down for Breakfast.

(They three of them sit down to eat Sandwiches)

Cyndaquil: You sure packed a lot of food April.

April: There's no telling how long we'll be on the road from town to town, and food is definitely something we'll need.

Hoppip: Seems like you thought everything through before leaving. My new Trainer is smart~!

April: New? Did you have another Trainer??

Hoppip: Nope. I like playing a lot more than battling.

Cyndaquil (Munches his sandwich): There will be plenty of time for both during our time together.

April: But first....

Cyndaquil: Hey April, what's over here anyway??

April: Now that I have both of you, we'll battle other Trainers.

Hoppip: Huh?

April: I'm willing to bet anything that there are a bunch of other Trainers around here.

Cyndaquil: So we find them and challenge them?

April: Yeah.

Hoppip: Can we find a swing set first??

April: Let's just go.

(April recalls Hoppip and walks around the neighborhood with Cyndaquil)

Cyndaquil: Nice place, but I don't see anyone but us around here.

April: It's early, everyone's probably still sleeping.

Cyndaquil: Huh??

(They notice a large gathering near the woods, approaching it)

April: What's going on over here?

Monk: My people came out here for Chinese New Year with our Pokemon, so plenty of Trainers came to battle us.

Cyndaquil: What??

Monk: Kids came here with their Pokemon to make it from here to the end of the woods. This is the last day my people and I will be here.

April: What's waiting at the end?

Monk: You're a Trainer yourself. If you want to find out....

Cyndaquil: We're going in there?

April: Yeah.

(They enter the woods)

Cyndaquil: There are definitely other Pokemon nearby.

April: We're in for a battle soon, that's all I know.

Monk: Girl, you are correct.

(He appears before them)

April: Here we go Cyndaquil.

(Cyndaquil rushes forth)

Monk: Go!

(He unleashes a Bellsprout)

April's Pokedex: Bellsprout, The Flower Pokemon. Bellsprout launches its vines at whatever movement it sees, defending itself while absorbing water from the ground.

April: Tackle!

(Cyndaquil rams Bellsprout)

Monk: Vine Whip.

(Bellsprout Vine Whips Cyndaquil)

April: Smokescreen.

(Cyndaquil blinds Bellsprout with smoke)

Monk:......

(Cyndaquil runs straight into the smoke, only to be repelled by Vine Whip as it clears)

April: ?!

Monk: That tactic won't work on us. Attack!

(Cyndaquil thrusts himself up, evading Vine Whip)

April: Finish it off!

(Cyndaquil defeats Bellsprout with Tackle)

Monk: Looks like I misjudged you, but you both have a long way to go.

(He recalls Bellsprout)

April: You okay Cyndaquil?

Cyndaquil: Yeah.

April: Let's keep moving.

(Their trek continues)

Cyndaquil: How far do you suppose this place goes?

April: We just got here. I'm sure there are other Trainers besides Monks out here.

Cyndaquil: Same here.

April: Who I'm sure will challenge us the first chance they get.

Cyndaquil: Just what we were looking for. So where did you wanna go after this?

April: There are plenty of places near here. But the way things are going I wanna find a Pokemon Gym pretty soon.

Cyndaquil: A what??

(A Rattata appears before them)

Cyndaquil: Is that what I think it is?

April: Now's our chance to catch one of our own, go Cyndaquil!

Cyndaquil: Yeah!

(Both Pokemon ram each other)

April: Leer.

(Cyndaquil uses Leer)

Rattata: ?!

(Rattata evolves into Raticate)

April: What the hell?!

April's Pokedex: Raticate, The Mouse Pokemon, and the Evolved Form of Rattata. Able to cross rivers, this Pokemon forages a wide scope for food, which it crushes with its sharp fangs.

Cyndaquil: April!!

(Raticate lungs at Cyndaquil with Hyper Fang)

April: Cyndaquil!!

(Razor Leaf is fired between them, repelling Raticate, who retreats)

April: What??

(Cyndaquil shivers on the ground)

April (Grabs Cyndaquil): Are you alright?

Cyndaquil: I'll be fine, I got scared that's all.

April: But what just happened??

(A Cool Trainer appears)

Cool Trainer: You guys alright?

April: Yeah, but who are you?

Cool Trainer: The name's NaLi, I just saw you guys over here and reacted.

Cyndaquil: Are you taking this challenge thing too?

NaLi: Yup, it's not like we're competing against each other or anything. And you guys looked like you needed help.

April: Thanks.

(They continue walking)

NaLi: So what's your name anyway?

April: I'm April, I just became a Pokemon Trainer myself. We happened to get here on the last day of this challenge, or whatever it is.

NaLi: I'll tell you right now kid, you've got a lot ahead of you. Around here you'll run into all kinds of things.

Cyndaquil: We already know that. We're ready for anything.

NaLi: You didn't seem ready for that Raticate back there.

April: We'll be fine out here. What's at the end of this challenge anyway?

NaLi: No idea.

Cyndaquil: So let's find out before it ends.

April: Good idea.

NaLi: According to my experience Trainers run into disappointment with challenges like these more often than not. So I don't have my hopes up to be honest.

April: So how long have you been a Trainer then?

NaLi: It'll be two years this year, but....

April: But what?

NaLi: We're not alone.

(A group of Rattata appear)

April: ?!

NaLi: The amount of Trainers out here has the nearby Pokemon on their guard, it's almost like they were expecting us.

April: No kidding, let's go Cyndaquil.

(Cyndaquil jumps forth)

NaLi: Now you're talking, let's go~!

(NaLi unleashes Bulbasaur)

April: Huh?

April's Pokedex: Bulbasaur, The Seed Pokemon. When young, Bulbasaur lives off of the nutrients from the bulb on its back.

NaLi: And when strong enough it uses that energy to fight, Attract!

(As the Rattata jump forth Bulbasaur stops two thirds of them with Attract)

NaLi: Now Razor Leaf!

(Bulbasaur defeats the Rattata caught by Attract, leaving two left)

April: Thanks, but you missed some.

NaLi: That Move isn't a sure thing.

April/NaLi: Tackle!!

(Cyndaquil and Bulbasaur ram the remaining two Rattata, who retreat)

NaLi: All in all, that went well.

Bulbasaur: It might be a good idea to keep me out, chances are that won't be our last battle here.

NaLi: Did I tell you to return to your Pokeball? Damn Bulbasaur.

Bulbasaur:.....

(Bulbasaur notices Cyndaquil)

Bulbasaur: You fight well yourself, just try not to get intimidated by a larger opponent.

Cyndaquil: Who asked you?!

Bulbasaur: You can hold your own until your opponent takes you by surprise.

NaLi: They just started, don't be that way.

(They continue walking)

April: NaLi right? Is Bulbasaur your only Pokemon?

NaLi: On hand, I didn't bring anyone else with me.

Bulbasaur: We don't live far from here, and most of the time we can't really go anywhere.

Cyndaquil: Can't? You guys don't travel or anything?

NaLi: We have things to do at home, let's leave it at that.

Bulbasaur: ?!

(A pair of Frat Boys appear before them)

Cyndaquil: They don't look like Sages.

April: Nope.

Frat Boy: I'll be damned, even on the last day there's still someone wide open.

Other Frat Boy: So what are we waiting for?! Let's kick their asses!!

Frat Boy: Hell yeah!

(They unleash Furret and Phanpy)

Cyndaquil: Hey! We're not competing against each other!

Bulbasaur: You're naive. That doesn't automatically mean someone won't challenge us if they feel like it.

NaLi: And these idiots enjoy jumping Trainers like this.

April's Pokedex: Furret, The Long Body Pokemon, and the Evolved Form of Sentret. Furret live underground in tunnels that are only big enough for them to enter.

April: Cyndaquil, Smokescreen!

(Cyndaquil blinds their attackers with smoke)

Frat Boy: Nice Try.

(Furret emerges from the ground beneath Cyndaquil and Bulbasaur as they split off)

Bulbasaur: Move!

(Phanpy fires Rollout at Cyndaquil, who evades)

NaLi: Razor Leaf.

Frat Boy: Protect.

(Furret negates Bulbasaur's Razor Leaf)

Frat Boy: You guys are lame, Hyper Beam!

Cyndaquil: ?!

(Cyndaquil rams Furret before it can react)

NaLi: Attract.

(Bulbasaur fires Attract at Phanpy, which does nothing)

NaLi: Damn it.

Frat Boy: Phanpy, Take Down!

(Phanpy charges at Cyndaquil)

April: Smokescreen!

(Cyndaquil blinds Phanpy with Smoke)

Frat Boy: ?! Protect!

(The smoke clears, revealing Phanpy's Take Down negated by Furret's Protect)

Frat Boy: You almost had us there. You two are crafty for a pair of wimps.

NaLi: Bulbasaur, let's shut these fools down!!

Bulbasaur: Hell yeah!

(Bulbasaur gathers all its power at once)

April/Cyndaquil: ?!

NaLi: Ancient Power!!

(Bulbasaur soundly defeats both of the Frat Boy's Pokemon)

Frat Boys:......

(They recall both their Pokemon and take off)

Cyndaquil:......You waited until now to do that?!

Bulbasaur: It's a Rock Type Move, I didn't want to risk getting you caught in the blast.

April: You alright Cyndaquil?

Cyndaquil: I'm fine.  

(Cyndaquil glares off)

Cyndaquil: That was quick.

(A Wild Gastly appears)

NaLi: Razor Leaf.

(Gastly narrowly evades Razor Leaf)

NaLi: Now Attract.

(Bulbasaur immobilizes Gastly with Attract)

NaLi: Awesome.

(NaLi catches Gastly with a Pokeball)

April: That seemed simple.

NaLi: I got lucky, that's all.

(An explosion is heard nearby)

April: What the....

NaLi: Let's go.

(They approach the end of the woods, finding Duncan having defeated the Monk's Leader)

Lama: You battled well and won. But you did so without considering your Pokemon's well being, which worries me.

Duncan: Mind your own business.

(He notices April behind him)

Duncan: One softhearted weakling after another. You made it here already?

April: You stole my Uncle's Pokemon!

Duncan: I told you when we met, I'm going to be the world's strongest Pokemon Trainer, no matter what.

(He takes off)

April: Damn it.

Lama: You made it here just in time, my people and I are about to leave.

April: So this is the end of the challenge? Alright.

Lama: Let's begin.

(He unleashes his Bellsprout)

April: Yeah.

(She unleashes Hoppip)

Lama: Start!

(A giant gong is sounded)

April: Tail Whip!

(Hoppip hits Bellsprout with her tail)

Lama: Growth.

(Bellsprout uses Growth)

April: Tackle!

(Hoppip rams Bellsprout)

Lama: Vine Whip.

(Bellsprout Vine Whips Hoppip)

April: Tail Whip.

(Hoppip Tail Whips Bellsrpout)

Lama: Vine Whip.

(Bellsprout critically hits Hoppip)

April: Tackle.

(Hoppip critically hits Bellsprout)

Lama: Growth.

(Bellsprout uses Growth again)

April: One more time.

(Hoppip defeats Bellsprout)

Lama: Impressive power.

(He recalls Bellsprout)

April: Great going, you okay?

Hoppip: Yeah, those attacks barely hurt.

Lama: This will be different.

(He unleashes a Hoothoot)

Hoppip: Huh?!

April: Hoppip, Synthesis!

(Hoppip heals herself)

Lama: We won't hesitate. Hoothoot, Peck!

(Hoothoot Pecks Hoppip)

April: Hoppip!

Hoppip: That was worse.

April: Tackle it.

Lama: Negate it.

(Both Pokemon use Tackle)

April: Keep going.

(Hoppip and Hoothoot keep Tackling each other)

April thinking: We've got no opening, and using Synthesis will just leave Hoppip wide open. Damn it.

Lama: It's fine to think ahead, but be aware of what's happening now. Peck!

(Hoothoot defeats Hoppip)

April: Damn....

(She recalls Hoppip as she falls)

April: Cyndaquil!

(Cyndaquil rushes forth)

April/Lama: Tackle!

(Both Pokemon ram each other)

Lama: Your Pokemon are clearly attuned to your willpower, I can tell how close you all are.

(Hoothoot Pecks Cyndaquil, knocking him to the ground)

Lama: Do you really think that's all it takes to win?

(Cyndaquil gets up)

Cyndaquil: This is important to us, we're not going to lose!

(Cyndaquil hits Hoothoot with Ember, knocking him off balance)

April: Tackle!

(Cyndaquil Tackles Hoothoot as he falls, defeating him)

Lama: For your current level, you're a very good Pokemon Trainer.

(He recalls Hoothoot)

Lama: That completes this challenge, here you go.

(April obtains HM05)

April: What's this?

Lama: Something that shall light your way on your Pokemon Journey. Farewell child.

April: Thanks.

(She notices NaLi is gone)

April: Come on, Cyndaquil.

Cyndaquil: Yeah.
