Title: THE GHOST OF POKEMON PAST!!



Having ended up nowhere despite their efforts, Ben and his Pikachu Taiora return to the home of their friend Scott, intending to relay the result of their night at the cemetery.



Scott: What happened you guys?

Ben: We couldn't identify any of the ghosts down there. But the Channelers weren't so difficult to defeat.

Taiora: I couldn't bring myself to attack the ghosts when they showed up. Whenever I saw one my body froze on its own.

Scott: Damn it.

Scott thinking: The same thing happens to Fido. I guess even Pokemon aren't fearless.

Ben: We'll go back there tomorrow night. And this time.

Taiora: It wouldn't be any different. The end of the cemetery is guarded by that last ghost, the one that spoke to us.

Scott: Huh?

Ben: At the edge of that place there was a ghost that was stronger than any of the others. It was also able to nullify Taiora's attacks.

Scott thinking: Could it be....

Ben: Maybe we should all go back together.

Scott: No. If we cant get passed that ghost we cant do anything. And our Pokemon cant do anything against it.

Taiora: So what....Are you saying we're screwed?

Scott: No....We just need to find what CAN counter that thing.

Ben: Hey Taiora. Didn't that Channeler last night say something about technology being able to unmask ghosts?

Taiora: Something about an Iphone.

Scott: What now?

Ben's Pokedex: Apple has recently fitted its “Iphone” with an application that enables detection of the supernatural. Making the invisible plain to see.

Scott: Well I've got one. But I don't think it's got the application that thing's referring too.

Ben: Damn it....So what now?

Scott: I've got another idea.

Taiora: And what would that be?

Scott: Follow me you guys.

(They enter his grandfather's basement)

Ben: So what's your idea?

Scott: During school last year I put together a radar in my Science Class. One that could detect something even if it's invisible.

(He takes the device out)

Taiora: And how did you accomplish this?

Scott: It's a long story. Normally radars use sound. This one works a little differently.

Ben: So what do we do with it?

Scott: What do you think? We use it to reveal what those ghosts REALLY are.

Ben: I got you. Does it still work?

Scott: Let's find out. When the sun goes down tonight I'm coming with you guys.

Ben: Alright. Understood.

Taiora: Wait a minute!! Why didn't you just take it with you before and use it from the beginning?

Scott: Because I needed to charge it....This is a last resort anyway. It'll take a while but I'm hooking this thing up to my Iphone. That should bring it close enough to the application we need.

Taiora: Assuming it works.

Ben: If you need an antenna I've got one in my backpack here.

Scott: Thanks.

Taiora:.....What don't you have in there?

Ben: My computer. Now come on.

Taiora: Where? We aren't going back there until tonight remember?

Ben: We're going to sleep. We'll need all our strength tomorrow night.

Scott: There's a futon in the closet upstairs. I'll wake you guys up when it's time to go.

Taiora: Thanks.

(They head upstairs)

Taiora: Can I ask you something?

Ben: What?

Taiora: Well....After we're done here where are we going next?

Ben: Where we were headed, the Pokemon Gym in Indianola.

Taiora: That's not what I meant.

Ben: Huh?

Taiora: Your “Maxwell Quest”. What's the next step to Shayla?

Ben: I guess it would have to be meeting her again....And finally telling her I want to marry her.

Taiora: You mean you've never told her that part of it?

Ben: No....

Taiora: Well, I guess it should be obvious to her by now anyway.

Ben(Gets into the futon): I wonder about that.

Taiora: Me too.

(They both sleep, Cubone watching them)

Cubone:..............................

(Hours later The sun begins setting, our heroes still sleeping. Fido the Growlithe walks up to them)

Fido:...........(Begins panting)....Bark!

Ben:...........

Fido(Smells Taiora): Bark Damn it!

(He nudges Ben, who doesn't move)

Fido:..............

(He bites Ben on the leg, waking him and by extension his Pikachu up)

Ben: Geez, what was that for?

Fido: My master is ready. Let's go.

Taiora: Very well.

Ben: Damn it. That hurt.

(The four of them leave the house as the sun sets)

Scott: Alright. You guys ready?

Ben: Yeah.

Scott: I'll hold the radar. Fido.

(Fido takes the antenna in his mouth, pointing it in front of him)

Scott: Good boy.

(They set off, Cubone watching them as they leave)

Cubone: You guys....

(They arrive at the cemetery)

Ben: Alright. Chances are those Channelers are expecting us back. Be on your guard everyone.

Scott: You don't need to tell me twice. How're you holding up Fido?

Fido:........(Pants with the antenna in his mouth)....

Taiora: Well I'm fine for the moment.

Ben: So far so good I guess.

(The Channeler from the previous night approaches, badly injured)

Ben: Hey!!

(They run up to him)

Channeler: You again? I figured they would've destroyed you last night.

Scott: What happened?

Channeler: Those damned fools. They got that Ghost Detector application For their Iphones installed. And....

(He passes out)

Ben: Damn.

Scott: Fido, Take him back to the house. Pikachu, can you hold the antenna?

Taiora: Sure.

(Fido takes the Channeler on his back and leaves)

Ben: What do you suppose happened?

Scott: The only thing that's clear is that they figured out what these ghosts are. I guess that's what they came here for.

Ben: But the question is....What resulted?

Taiora: There's only one way to find out.

(They enter the darkness)

Ben: What does the radar say?

Scott: Nothing, there's nothing within a five foot range of us.

Ben: Taiora.

Taiora: I know.

(He fires electricity into the sky)

Ben: How about now?

Scott: Why did you have to do that?

Taiora: Because it'll be easier to find them if we lure them to us instead of wandering this place all night.

Scott: You guys are.....

Ben: We're what?

(The radar beeps)

Scott: Here we go. We're not alone anymore.

(Two Channelers appear before them, each standing on a gravestone)

Ben: What do you guys want?

Channeler: Give.

Channeler: Me.

Ben:.......

Channelers: BLOOD!!    

(They both unleash Gengar)

Scott: What the hell?

Taiora: Not again! I never wanted to see one of these things ever again!!

Ben: How the hell did they get Gengars. How?!

Scott: They must've traded among each other.

Ben: Huh?

Scott: Check your Pokedex. Haunter evolves when it's traded. And it evolves into Gengar. Mystery solved.

Channelers: NIGHT SHADE!!

(They narrowly avoid the attacks and the two Gengar split off)

Ben thinking: Damn you.

Ben: Thunderbolt!

(Thunderbolt hits one of the Gengar head on)

Channeler: Do it!

(The other Gengar fires Thunderbolt at Scott, destroying his radar)

Scott: NO!!

Taiora: Damn you!!

(He fires Thunderbolt at the other Gengar, who counters it with the same Move)

Ben thinking: Damn it.

Ben: Hey Scott.

Scott: It's no good. My radar's shot.

Ben: Damn it. Then what do we do now?

(Both Gengar close in on Taiora as he tires)

Ben: Taiora!!

(Fido appears and fires Flamethrower between them)

Fido: AWOOO BITCH!!

Scott: Great timing.

Ben: Alright. Taiora, Thunderbolt!

Scott: Fido, Dragon Rage.

(They defeat the other Gengar, the Channelers losing consciousness)

Ben: What the hell just happened?

Scott: It looks like the Pokemon might've been controlling them.

Ben: They seemed conscious last night.

(The Channelers awaken, recalling their Gengars)

Taiora: What the hell happened?

Channeler: I don't remember. Last thing I recall is trading my Haunter to this guy. Then something happened to them....And....

Fido: And you wrecked my Master's Ghost Radar.

Ben: OH YEAH! Scott, Can you....

Scott: No, It's completely broken.

Channeler: In that case take this, I won't be needing it anymore.

(He throws Ben his Iphone)

Ben: Thanks.

Taiora: What happened to you guys anyway?

Scott: When their Ghost Pokemon evolved, I'm guessing they were strong enough to hijack the minds of their Trainers. So maybe...

Ben: It's the same deal further up.

Channeler: As soon as our Gastlys started evolving we traded the Haunters to each other. And....

Taiora: I get it. The rapidly evolved Ghost Types were that powerful.

Channeler: Well I don't know about you guys but....Since we got mind jacked by our own Pokemon we need to better ourselves.

Ben: Maybe try getting smarter.

Channeler: Good idea.

(They take off)

Ben: Well, we've got what we need now. Let's go.

Scott: Yeah. Come on you guys.

(They continue on and fog begins forming)

Taiora: Don't tell me.

Ben: This is the same exact feeling as before, it's one of those ghosts.

Scott: Well get the Iphone ready then.

Ben: The battery is less than half but it should be able to work.

(He attaches the antenna and activates the ghost detection)

Ben: Here we go Taiora.

Taiora: Right!!

(He clashes the fog with Thunder Shock and a ghost appears)

Ghost: Get out!!

Ben's Pokedex: This Pokemon cannot be identified.

Ben: Taiora, Thunderbolt.

Taiora:..............

Scott: Fido, Flamethrower.

Fido: (Whimpers like a dog).

Scott: Damn it. Ben.

Ben: I know.

Iphone: Ghost Detector activated.

(It scans the ghost and depicts Gastly on the screen, the illusion is dispelled)

Taiora: What the hell?

Fido: Huh?

Taiora thinking: Now I can move again. Perfect.

(He Thunder Shocks Gastly)

Gastly: What the hell?

(It notices its disguise is gone)

Gastly: Damn it.

(It disappears)

Ben: Well, it works.

Taiora: So those ghosts really WERE just Pokemon.

Ben: They must have some ability to disguise themselves like that.

Scott: Yeah well, the next time we see one of those things we'll make sure it doesn't escape.

Ben: Agreed. Come on guys.

Taiora: Yeah.


(They continue walking)



The night continues for our hero and his Pikachu. Now that they have discovered the identity of the ghosts haunting the cemetery they are ready to complete this mission. But what awaits them at that point? Read the next chapter to find out.
