Pokemon Benayla Version chapter thirty three

Now to enter the Dragon's Den.



Title: ROCKY RED.



The sun is rising since the previous chapter. Ben and Taiora emerging from the sleeping bag.


Ben: Let's move.

Taiora: Right.

(They continue walking)

Taiora: So about last night.

Ben: Whatever is going on with Shayla is worse than I thought. Looks like now.

Taiora: What you have planned is all or nothing.

Ben: Yeah. But for the moment we've got more than that on our hands.

Taiora: What?

(They arrive at a large water body)

Taiora: Is that....

Ben: This body of water is called “Red Rock”. An Iowan lake.

Taiora: Perfect. Have any Pokeballs left?

Ben: Not a lot. But first thing's first.

(They stop at a nearby cottage and Ben stores Kaylex in the box)

Taiora: Why didn't you take any Pokemon out? I was looking forward to meeting one of the Safari Zone Pokemon we got.

Ben: We'll capture something from the lake and then reach Pella. I'll get one of the Safari Zone Pokemon out for our Gym Battle there.

Taiora: Fine.

(They get up)

Taiora: By the way, what's Pella like?

Ben: I don't know. I've never been there myself.

Taiora: You lived here for nine years right? But you didn't go anywhere?

Ben: Not really. That's the kind of place Iowa is. We keep to ourselves. At least that's how I was.

Taiora: So this Journey we're on. It's also to let you see more of Iowa?

Ben: No. Honestly I don't care how much I see in my life. What I do care about is....

Taiora: Shayla. Of course.

Ben: And Pokemon. Now let's go.

(An old man approaches them)

Old Man: So lad, I take it you're a Trainer?

Ben: Yeah. Why?

Old Man: Then I've got the best deal for you. For just five dollars, you can have this Magikarp.

Ben: Magikarp?

Taiora: Isn't that the red fish we saw a long time ago?

Old Man: I capture them in lake Red Rock, and then sell these magnificent Pokemon to Trainers like you.

Ben: Magnificent?

Ben's Pokedex: Magikarp knows the least Moves of all known unevolved Pokemon, only knowing Splash and Tackle. The former having no effect whatsoever.

Taiora: Sounds pretty weak. So you're basically selling something useless.

Old Man: I don't know about that. It might not be the strongest Pokemon in the world, but it's certainly got spirit.

(He unleashes a Magikarp, which begins flopping around on the floor)

Taiora(Watches Magikarp flop up and down): I feel five dollars is a little much. This one in particular looks more like....Fifty cents.

Old Man: Don't try to haggle with me Pikachu, these fine fish are definitely worth five bucks.

Ben: Fine, I'll take this one.

Taiora: You're kidding right?

Old Man: Sold. To the wisest Trainer I've seen.

(Ben obtains the Magikarp for an outrageous five dollars and then enters Red Rock on his raft)

Taiora: Give me a good reason for why you bought that damn thing.

Ben: A Pokemon is a Pokemon isn't it? If this is the only one I have to pay for I won't complain.

Taiora: But it can't battle.

Ben: I wonder about that.

Taiora: The only Damaging Move, the only Move it has that can do anything is Tackle. It can barely fight.

Ben: What's your problem?

Taiora: You wasted money.

Ben: I got a Pokemon.

Taiora: That guy said he catches them in this river, if you really wanted one you could've just fished for it. Without wasting money on one.

Ben: Whatever.

Taiora:.......

(Ben's fishing rod receives a bite)

Ben: Alright.

(He pulls up a Shellder)

Ben: Yeah.

Taiora: Allow me.

Ben: Now Let's test your theory. Go Fang!

(He unleashes his Magikarp)

Taiora: Fang??

Ben: Tackle it!

(Magikarp rushes toward Shellder. Who Clamps down on it)

Ben: Try to break free by splashing.

(Magikarp tries breaking free but fails, Shellder Licking it)

Taiora: That's disturbing.

Ben: Damn it.

(He throws a Pokeball at Shellder. Who releases Fang at deflects it with its tongue, escaping back into the river)

Taiora: Magnificent Pokemon. That old guy should be arrested for cheating people out of their money. Seriously.

(Fang continues splashing on the raft)

Ben:......

Taiora: What do we do from here?

Ben: Scope the water. Go Don!

(He unleashes his Squirtle)

Ben: If you're up for it. Take Fang here and search Lake Red Rock for Pokemon. Taiora and I will stay here.

Don: Fang?

(He looks over at the flopping Magikarp)

Don: Sure. Glad to meet you man.

(He extends his hand and Magikarp continues flopping)

Don:......Not very friendly are you?

Taiora: Save your energy my friend.

(Both Water Pokemon submerge)

Taiora: There's something else I wanted to ask you though.

Ben: Is it about Fang?

Taiora: No.

Ben: What's on your mind?

Taiora: I've been wondering, how did you tell Shayla that you love her?

Ben:.........

Taiora: What?

Ben: The third day of our freshman year had ended, and as such we were walking together and talking. Near the end of it we spoke of having crushes, she mentioned she never had one. And I mentioned one that I had in preschool.

Taiora: And then?

Ben: She asked me if I had a crush on her, and I said “Yeah”.

Taiora: And.....

Ben: She asked me again in disbelief, like I said.

Taiora: It sounds like it was awkward.

Ben: Yeah.

Taiora: It seems like you two felt right with each other. But even so, you ended up the way you are now. Even after what you went through right before you came back.

Ben: Yeah. I totally get what you mean.

Taiora: The question is....How will all of that end here?

Ben: That's a question that will be answered soon enough, Taiora.

Taiora: Yeah, I know.

(Taiora takes the fishing rod and casts it in)

Taiora: Even though I want you to be with her, I'm beginning to sense what's going on. Whatever she's keeping from you, I fear what'll happen when we find out. Because-

(His line receives a bite)

Taiora: That was fast.

Ben: So pull it up.

(Taiora pulls Don and Fang up)

Taiora:...........

Don: Hey there.

Taiora: What are you doing?

Don: This guy just kept swimming forward and bumped into rocks, So I thought we'd come back up. I didn't see or sense anything while we were down there anyway.

Taiora: You were only gone for five minutes.

Ben: Come to think of it, I have enough Pokemon for now. Let's go you guys.

Taiora: Right.

(The four of them return to shore. Fang still in the water, swimming in circles)

Don: So anyway, Pella, What do you wanna do when we arrive there?

Ben: First of all we need to rest up and eat. That last Battle with Shayla took a lot out of everyone. When we're ready we'll challenge the Pokemon Gym.

Don: Good plan. I'm still feeling that last fight actually.

Taiora: Probably not as much as I am. By now I'm starting to adapt to this.

Don: You got knocked out back there.

Taiora: So did you.

Ben: Don't forget it's OTHER Pokemon we're going to fight. Not each other.

Don: Yeah I know that, I was just saying.

Taiora: Saying what?

Don: What he said.

Ben: At the moment what we need to focus on is recovery. But...

(They look back at Fang)

Taiora: We're seriously going to add him to the team?

Ben: Yeah. The five dollars I spent won't be in vain. Besides, I like fish.

Don: Five dollars? He more closely resembles fifty cents.

Taiora: Exactly what I said.

Don: So what's his fighting style anyway?

Taiora: The only Damaging Move he knows is Tackle. Fighting style. The only other Move he knows has no effect.

Don: You sure about this man?

Ben: Yeah. Huh?

(They notice the guy from earlier on the other side of the river)

Old Man: Damn it, besides this morning I haven't sold a single Magikarp all week. So now.

(He releases five Magikarp back into the river)

Old Man: Farewell fish. Huh?

(The five of them begin splashing in the same place)

Old Man: What the.....Have you guys been in these balls so long you forgot how to swim?

(All five Magikarp evolve into Gyarados)

Old Man: Oh hell!!

(He begins running and one of them takes him in their mouth and tosses him into the river)

Taiora: Oh man, don't tell me those are what I think they are.

Ben: Yeah, we've come across one of those once before.

Don: What are those things?

Ben: Gyarados, Magikarp's Evolved Form. Looks like they're about to go on a rampage.

Taiora: So let's go before we get dragged into it!

Don(Grabs Fang): Yeah, come on.

(One of the Gyarados notices them on the other side of the river)

Ben: Damn it.

(It fires Hyper Beam as they begin running)

Taiora: What the hell?!

Ben: I think these Gyarados are stronger than the one we came across a long time ago.

Taiora: You mean the one that Shayla captured after I weakened it?

Ben: We gotta get out of here.

(Two Gyarados appear around them after the smoke clears)

Don: We're in trouble aren't we?

Ben: Taiora, Thunder Shock!!

(Taiora Thunder Shocks the Two Gyarados, both standing their ground)

Ben: Yeah, they're definitely stronger than that one.

Taiora: We're screwed.

Don: We don't want any troubles guys, we're just going to leave.

(Both Gyarados fire Dragon Rage at them)

Ben: Damn it, is everyone okay?

Taiora: What do they want from us?

Ben: Remember what the Pokedex said about Gyarados? It won't stop rampaging until everything around it has been burned to the ground.

Taiora: Then I'll fight them and burn THEM to the ground.

(He falls on his ass)

Taiora: Damn it.

Don: What's wrong?

Taiora: I still haven't recovered from last night. Otherwise these things would be unconscious by now.

Don: Same here, the only Pokemon that isn't is.

(He looks over to Fang flopping on the ground)

Taiora: We're screwed.

Ben: Maybe they'll spare us if I give them some food.

(He sets down a paper plate of Brownies and one of the Gyarados eats it whole)

Ben: Or maybe not.

Don: Wait, there IS a way out of this.

(Don picks Fang up and throws him at Gyarados, bouncing off)

Taiora: Are you an idiot?

Don(Catches Fang): No.

Ben: Taiora, can you manage at least one more Thunder Shock?

Taiora: I can try.

(He defeats one of the Gyarados with electricity, The other fires Dragon Rage at him)

Ben: Taiora!!

(He jumps up and catches Taiora, falling onto the ground in doing so)

Don:.....

(He looks into the eyes of the Gyarados before them, then at Fang, who he is still holding)

Don: There's only one thing that can save us now.

Taiora(Gets up): What are you talking about Squirtle?

Don: Benayla, give me your backpack.

Ben: I tried feeding it already.

Don: Not it.

(He grabs Ben's backpack)

Don: I'm feeding HIM.

(He digs and finds a Rare Candy)

Taiora: Isn't that.

Ben: I won that at that tournament a while ago. Wait, what are you....

Don: We lack the power, but you don't....Please Fang, GET IN THERE AND FIGHT!!

(He feeds the Rare Candy to Fang, who continues flopping)

Ben/Taiora:......

Don: We're screwed.

Taiora: Tell me something I don't know. Huh?

(Fang begins vibrating)

Gyarados:........

Taiora: Oh no!! This CAN'T be going where I think it is.

(Fang evolves into Gyarados, facing the one in front of them)

Ben: Good idea.

Don: Thanks. NOW KICK THAT THING'S ASS!!

(Fang glances back at them)

Taiora: Is he going to attack us too?

Ben: No....

(He gets up)

Ben: Defeat it Fang!!

(Fang Bites the other Gyarados and it knocks him off)

Ben: Now finish it!

(Fang blasts it and the knocked out Gyarados back into the water with Ice Beam)

Ben: And....We're saved.

(Having seen that, the other Gyarados disappear)

Taiora: Damn, that was close.

Ben: If we hadn't obtained him we would've been screwed. Great job Fang.

(He recalls his newly evolved Gyarados)

Ben: Pella is right in front of us, so let's go.

Don: Yeah.

(Ben returns Don to his Pokeball)

Ben: Can you get up?

Taiora: Yeah.

(He gets up and they continue walking)
