Title: A DAY IN THE HAUNTED WAY!

Having carried his friend all the way over to an unknown town, Taiora sets Benayla down underneath a tree.

Ben(Wakes up): Where are we?

Taiora: Not sure. I just kept walking straight after I picked you up. Doesn't look like many people live here.

Ben: Iowa isn't a densely populated state.

Taiora: What?

Ben(Gets up): Never mind. Let's just find out where we are.

Taiora: Yeah.

Ben: Come on.

(They enter the town)

Ben: Hello?

Taiora: Can anybody tell us which town this is?

(Dead silence all around)

Ben: Which town this is?

Taiora: What?

Ben: It doesn't look like anyone's willing to come out. And on top of that I don't see this place on the map.

Taiora: You sure about that?

Ben: I'm the one who's looking at it.

Taiora: HEY!! IF ANYONE WOULD BE SO KIND AS TO COME OUT THAT WOULD REALLY BE APPRECIATED!!

Ben: Taiora!!

Taiora: Hey! I carried you all the way here from where we left so don't complain.

Ben: That doesn't just give you the right to shout like that though.

Taiora: Well I-

(Hey!)

Ben: Huh?

(Many “Hooded” people appear before Ben and his Pikachu, all of them in white robes and holding candles)

Taiora: What the hell?

Ben: Who are you?

Channeler: Those who enter this town must answer to us. Go!

(He unleashes a Gastly)

Taiora: OH COME ON! We just got here!

Ben: Taiora. Go find help. I'll deal with these guys.

(Taiora runs off)

Ben: Go Ember!!

(He unleashes his Charmander)

Channeler: Attack!!

(Gastly rapid fires Psywave at Ember)

Ben: Flamethrower!!

(Ember blasts Gastly with fire)

Channeler: Suck it dry!!

(Gastly uses Mega Drain)

Ben: Blow it up!!

Ember: Do what now?

(Gastly Licks Ember)

Ember: What the hell?

(Ember begins shivering)

Channeler: Now finish it!

(A blast of fire is shot between them)

Ben: What the hell?

Channeler: Damn it.

(A guy Ben's age appears with a Growlithe)

Channeler: Go away Scott. This doesn't concern you.

Scott: Doesn't matter. If you punks are up for a fight again I'm joining in too.

Channeler: Fine.

(He withdraws Gastly and they retreat)

Scott: Sorry about that man. We have a problem with those guys around here.

(Taiora appears)

Taiora: This guy was the only person I could find.

Ben: Well thanks for coming to our rescue, come on Ember.

Ember: I cant move. My body feels numb.

Scott: Here.

(He throws Ember a Paralyze Heal)

Ben: So what exactly is going on here?

Scott: Come with me.

(They head to a house)

Scott: The name is Scott, and this is my grandfather's place. I come out here every year to visit him. But....

Taiora: Nice place he's got here.

Ben: But what?

Scott: I got here about a week ago and he wasn't here. He left a note saying he went to the pet cemetery to deal with those guys you fought before.

Ben: Huh?

Taiora: Back up. What's going on around here?

Scott: Those guys hang around the pet cemetery just outside of this town. They call themselves “Channelers” and use Ghost Pokemon in battle. Like the one that guy used on you.

Ben: Go on.

Scott: Those morons overran that cemetery over a month ago and use it as a training ground.

Ben: Why? Aren't there a bunch of pet cemeteries across this entire country?

Scott: Yes. But none of them have reported any ghost sitings.

Ben/Taiora: What?

Scott: My Grandfather was telling me that right before these guys showed up people would say they see ghosts appear at that cemetery at night. News of those ghosts drove those idiots over here.

Ben: I see. Well Iowa isn't well known to begin with so that might be a good thing.

Taiora: You're kidding right?

Scott: Do you believe in ghosts?

Ben: Yes.

Scott(Smiles): Really? So there ARE believers.

Taiora: So why exactly are there ghosts around now?

Scott: It's probably Grandpa's Marowak that's haunting it.

Ben: What?

Ben's Pokedex: Marowak, The Bone Keeper Pokemon, and the evolved form of Cubone. It was originally a weak fighter until it adapted Bone based fighting styles. It has become more vicious over the ages.

Scott: My Grandfather kept Marowak and its kid over here as pets for a while. But then.....

Taiora: What happened?

Scott: Something killed it.

Ben: Huh?

Taiora: KILLED a Pokemon?

Scott: Let me back up here, there has apparently been some creature In these parts that no one recognizes, and it attacks anyone who approaches it viciously. Many Pokemon of Trainers stupid enough to go after it and lucky enough to find it have ended up dead as a result. And most of them were buried in that cemetery.

Ben: So they must be the ghosts you mentioned before.

Scott: Yeah.

Taiora: I take it your grandpa was one of those people then? And his Marowak suffered the same fate?

Scott: Not quite.

Ben: Then what happened?

Scott: That....Whatever it is appeared near here.

Taiora: Hang on. What does this thing look like anyway?

Scott: I'm not stupid enough to mess with this thing so I've never seen it. But the idiots who came back with their dead Pokemon say it looks like a white fox with an insect claw, wings and glowing eyes. And that's the same description my Grandfather's Cubone gave when it came running back.

Ben: What happened there?

Scott: The way I heard it Grandpa was on his porch around sunset waiting for Marowak and Cubone to come back from a walk. And Cubone came running back, bruised and crying.

Taiora: Don't tell me.

Scott: He followed Cubone back and they found....

Ben: What?

(Scott clenches his fist, shuddering)

Scott: Whatever that monster is it found them. And Marowak didn't stand a chance against it. My grandfather found his dear Pokemon dead.

Ben:......My god. What happened?

Scott: It attacked them, what else? Marowak's Bone Club was broken in half and her corpse was sliced like a birthday cake. Whatever that thing is it's something no Pokemon can survive against.

Taiora:.....I'm sorry to hear this. What did he do afterward?

Scott: Grandad buried Marowak in that cemetery, and right after that those Channelers showed up after the ghost sitings were reported.

Ben: So I take it he went to confront them?

Scott: That's my guess. This actually isn't the time of year I usually come out here. I'm about a month early, as soon as I heard about what happened to Marowak I wanted to see if grandpa was okay.

Taiora: I see.

Scott: Of course I tried going over there myself. But Fido, the Growlithe you guys saw earlier is my only Pokemon. I mean he can hold his own against most of the Channeler's Ghost Pokemon, it's when the actual ghosts show up that we falter.

Ben: And why is that?

Scott: For whatever reason he shivers like crazy and can't move whenever they show up.

Taiora: Wait. You've seen these ghosts yourself?

Scott: Yeah. I try to capture them with my Pokeballs but they don't work. The only thing I can do against them is run away. I've gone down there four nights in a row and there's no sign of Grandpa before we see a damn ghost.

Ben: Then how about letting us check it out?

Scott: No offense but you could barely hold your own against that asshole's Gastly. The weakest Ghost Pokemon. Go over there and you should expect to fight at least ten of those goons. All of which are probably stronger than him.

Ben: I don't care. After hearing your story I'm not just going to walk away from here without helping anyway I can.

Scott: Fair enough. But I hope you don't mind if I take a whack at you first. Prove to me that you're qualified for the graveyard shift.

(He unleashes Fido)

Ben's Pokedex: Growlithe, The Puppy Pokemon. It won't make a move until given an order by its master. If its territory is invaded it will respond by biting and barking at the intruder.

Ben: Alright then. Fern, let's go!!

(He unleashes his Bulbasaur)

Fern: Hell yeah!! Let's go!!

Scott: You go first.

Ben: Fern, Take Down.

Scott: Counter it.

(Both Pokemon ram into each other, pushing one another in a headbutt deadlock)

Ben: Throw it with Vine Whip.

(Fern takes Fido in his Vine Whip and lifts him up)

Scott: Get your feet on the ground and thrust it!

(Fido jumps to the ground and throws Fern)

Scott: Double Edge!

(Fido rams Fern as he struggles up)

Ben: Razor Leaf.

(Fern fires Razor Leaf at Fido, who dodges it)

Scott: Now Dragon Rage!!

(A bone is thrown between Fern and Fido)

Ben: Huh?

Scott: Cubone?!

Cubone: What the hell do you think you're doing?!

Scott: This guy and his Pokemon are going to the cemetery to look for Grandpa. I was just testing him.

Cubone: You're an idiot. You cant do it yourself so you're sending someone else??

Scott: That's enough Cubone.

Ben's Pokedex: Cubone. The Lonely Pokemon. It wears the skull of its dead mother as a helmet. When it cries a sad melody is echoed out of it.

Taiora: So you're Marowak's child?

Cubone: Yeah.....

(He leaves)

Scott: Poor kid. That's the first time he's left his room since his mother was killed.

Ben: His room?

Scott: Grandpa gives His Pokemon their own room.

(Fern and Fido are returned to their Pokeballs)

Scott: You fight well. So how about I make us some dinner before hitting the cemetery?

Ben: That's fine.

Taiora: Says you. I'm hungry.

Ben: Alright, All my Pokemon could use something.

Scott: Very well.

(Ben's Pokemon and Fido sit down for dinner)

Scott: When the sun sets is when those ghosts appear. That's when I usually go down there.

Ben: Wait, why not just go there during the daytime to look for your grandfather?

Scott: Those Channeler idiots guard it during the day. They only train at night. So it's easier to sneak in there. During the day it's impossible.

Ben: I see.

Beluga: Did you guys say ghosts?

Fern: That's right, we're going to a cemetery to battle ghosts.

Don: Why not just call someone to bust them?

Taiora: Somehow I don't think that would work.

Beluga: Yeah....Count me out.

Taiora: Hey! Don't forget we saved your ass from wandering the streets.

Beluga: But still. I cant stand ghosts.

Ben: Fine. Hey Scott. You got a computer?

Scott: Yeah, follow me.

Taiora: Hey.

Scott: What?

Taiora: What Type of Pokemon do you think that monster is?

Scott: Who knows? From what I've heard I don't think it's a Pokemon anyone's ever seen before.

Taiora:........

(Ben returns Beluga to his Pokeball and Scott brings him to his computer)

Ben: I'll just store this guy in the box.

(He stores Beluga in the Personal Computer Storage System)

Ben: Thanks man.

(Meanwhile, Cubone is in his room, crying)

Cubone: Mother, why did you have to die....Why?

(Taiora puts his hand on the Ground Type's shoulder)

Taiora: Hey. You alright?

Cubone: What do you want?

Taiora: Thought you'd like a brownie.

(He hands a brownie to Cubone)

Cubone: Thanks.

(He begins eating it)

Taiora: If it's not to much to ask, do you remember what that monster looked like?

Cubone:.......The one that killed my mother?

Taiora: Yeah.

(Back to Ben and Scott)

Scott: Thanks man. Sorry but tonight I can't come with you, you're on your own.

Ben: That's fine. I promise we'll find everything out. And we'll bring your grandfather home. Hey!!

Scott: What's the matter?

Ben: Where's my Pokedex?

(Back in Cubone's room, Taiora is flipping through Ben's Pokedex with Cubone)

Cubone: I don't see it in here. None of these Pokemon look anything like that thing.

Taiora: You can't be serious. Then what was it?

Cubone: You sure this machine has data for every existing Pokemon?

Taiora: Yeah. Of course.

Cubone: The old man once said, “The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence”.

Taiora: What does THAT mean?

(Cubone pushes a button on the Pokedex)

Ben's Pokedex: There are believed to still be Pokemon that have yet to be discovered by humans.

Taiora: That's exactly what I'm afraid of.

Cubone: You're not the one who watched that monster attack your mother. Don't you dare say anything about fear.

Ben: Hey Taiora. We're heading out soon. You ready?

Taiora: Yeah. Bye Cubone.

Cubone: Bye.

(They leave)

Cubone: Good luck....Pikachu....Benayla.

Ben and his Pokemon set off into a graveyard that is said to be haunted. What will they encounter during their night there? And what became of Scott's Grandfather? Find out in the next chapter of Pokemon Benayla Version.
